Person sign

On Friday, Expressions Vinyl posted along with the link this cute sign. I really liked it, on Saturday I decided to make my own version of it. I did not have a wood board but,  I did have a pallet sign.
Using my Silhouette Cameo I drew a 10x10 box then I drew boxes to represent the wood pallet. With my husband's help we had it set up, to show the wood coming together. This way I can make sure the saying is lined up correctly and will not go over the edges of the slates. He never seen the saying he was  just helping me to make a pallet template.

Here is the link to where the file and idea came from.

 http://www.inspirationmadesimple.com/2015/12/youre-my-person-diy-photo-display/

Here is a photo of the pallet.

After I painted it, this is a light sea foam kind of  color.

I used the E6000 glue to attach the clothespin.
I printed out the saying and put on the board to make sure it would  work. Along with the placement of the words and the  clothespin; making sure the photo can be placed both ways.

Here is the end result, my husband really likes it.
I printed out another photo to show it in both directions.
I used silver colored vinyl and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Lava earrings

I recently order a Chakra bracelet with lava stones. It arrived and is just so pretty. Problem is I have a small wrist. I seen where the thread had been tied and I gentle untied it and took off four lava stones.Once I tied it back, I thought it would work but now it was too tight.  I decided to go and get some of this stretch magic stuff people use to make jewelry.  I also purchase some sterling silver dangle earrings.  The plan was to restring the bracelet putting back two of the four stones.

Then I wanted to make earrings with  the two that were left. I really thought I purchased earrings that I could open the bottom  and just slide the lava stone on. Nice in theory but,the stone was too big. I actually broke on earring trying to do this. Lucky for me I had picked up a pack that had two pairs in it.

In the middle of the night I figured out an idea; I recently picked up a container of craft buttons. So I took out two black craft buttons some magic thread and I threaded the button and the stone together after the button was attached to the earring. I am so thrilled how they turned out. I show everyone.

Gift bags

I needed a gift bag for the bath bombs.  Just like cards I do not make these very often.  I don't have large  paper the biggest I have is 12x12 plus, I do not have a big cutter. I had a cute design from the Silhouette store and decided to use that. It turned out really cute and all problem was they are little bags and the bath bombs would not all fit.  The best solution was to just make a second one and put two in each one.  This worked out great, we put some string through the holes and then wrapped and marked the bath bombs so she would know what scents she was given. Doing these bags made me want to get some larger paper to make bigger bags.

Bath Bombs

We attend a yoga studio four times  a week. Each class is different and each instructor is different. We just found out there will  be some changes  and this young lady that teaches on Monday nights is leaving. So I wanted to do something for her. I decided to make some bath bombs. Here is a link to the recipe that I used.
http://www.themakeupdummy.com/2016/06/30/diy-bath-bombs-with-epsom-salts/#_a5y_p=5824952

In reading this they gave tips on coloring the Epsom salt and either mixing with the rest of the mixture or sprinkling in the bottom of the mold which would end up being the top of the design. I used two essential oils for each batch. I cannot for the  life of me remember both, I did label them when I wrapped them. Since they were gifts I do no have them anymore.   I made rose shaped ones, I colored the salt red  and lime green.  Even after mixing and letting it sit before mixing everything together it  the colors still blended.  One of the scents used was lavender along with one other scent, for the rose shaped. For the other flower shape I used peppermint along with another that I cannot remember.

First pick is the start  of the bath bomb mix

This photo is the Epsom salt after the coloring is added.

For the second batch, I colored the Epsom salt then  I added just the blue colored salt to the mix.
Here the first batch is in the rose  silicone mold drying. This has the red and lime colored salt.

For the second batch I took the yellow colored Epsom salt and sprinkled it on the bottom of the molds.  Which will be  the top of the flowers once they are dried and released.
Here is a photo of the finished bath bombs.  Love how they look and smell.

Sublimation on glitter

Going to try again and sublimate on to glitter. Learned so much from the first two times, looking forward to doing this. I found on Pinterest a site where you can get a years worth of truck designs for the different seasons. After downloading the designs I  took the Easter one and started adding the colors. I was taking the same design and just flipping things around and changing the colors so the  granddaughters did not have the exact same shirts.

While doing this I realized since the truck design is a  cut file there were cut marks I did not want on the finished product. This would have messed  up the cutting  and lining up of the design. So I made sure to have no cut lines except for around  the entire truck.   It took a couple tweaks and paying attention but, I  was able to get just cut lines around the truck no where else.

I first cut out the white glitter, then we tacked it to the shirts.  From there we printed out  the Easter truck design and used the Silhouette Cameo to  cut around the truck.  Then hubby lined up the sublimation design on top of the glitter and pressed them. These worked and looked really cute so  happy how turned out. The glitter really shines through.  I really like the way the colors look.

Easter card

I recently purchased a Xyron 900 having this I think I will try to make more cards. I decided to try this Easter Card it worked pretty good but, due to the cut out areas the glue was tacky where I did not need glue. Talking to my husband, he had me make another card same design.  Then he took and cut out the excess glue away from the open spaces. Forgot to take  a photo of the second one. Here is a pic of the first one.

Sublimation on canvas

This is my husband's project he wanted to try sublimation on canvas.  We purchased from Conde Systems the special canvas needed to do this.   At Hobby Lobby we found the wood needed to  make our frame so we did not have to order them through Conde.

He took the photo he wanted using the sublimation printer he did a mirror image. From there he took the paper and canvas and lined them up and pressed it.   After this  is took the canvas image and attached it to the frame.  The cool part about this is the canvas wraps around the frame and you staple to the back.  Was so happy not only how the photo turned out but, what photo he used.

The first photo is after it was printed on  the sublimation paper, it is mirror image.

Second photos is after it was printed on the canvas and he is lining it up on the frame to make sure it is centered and how it should be before he attaches it to the frame.
This last photo shows the completed project.  This photo really does not do it justice not only that but, my walls are not that green they are more blue green.  This photo was taken when we went to Italy October 2016

Sublimation St. Patrick's Day shirt

I had heard that you can sublimate on a shirt that is 100% cotton using glitter. I really wanted to try this out. I had a design in mind and I had a white sweatshirt.  My husband and I  worked on the design and cut out the glitter then we printed the design using the sublimation printer and paper.

I did not have glitter white heat transfer I only had silver. We cut out the silver glitter then my husband tacked it to the shirt.  From there we cut out the design using the Silhouette Cameo. The sublimated design was then lined up on top of  the glitter. It worked the glitter took the sublimation. The problem was the glitter was way too dark. Even through I had dark sublimation colors it just did not work.    The design could not be read or seen clearly. I do not have a photo of this to show.

Since  it worked, except for the darker glitter. I ordered some white glitter and when it arrived we did the process again. This time it was going on a green shirt with white glitter on the bottom and the sublimation design on the top.   The only issue we had with this one is there was a white edge to the sublimation design, which showed  once the glitter and sublimation design were applied to the shirt.

The shamrock did not print out as green as it looked on the screen. When it was applied to the shirt it looked less green and more blue. Since it is  on a green shirt and I am wear at a bar it is all good.

Print and cut magnets

I recently came across how to do 3D print and cut magnets.  I thought this would be a wonderful thing to make for my granddaughters.  I decided to make the alphabet, letters and colors.  Since there are two of them I made two sets. of each but, for the letters I made them each two sets so that they have enough letters to spell small words.  Not that they are able to do that yet since they are only 3 and 2.  Here is the link for the directions on  how to do this.

http://www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2015/02/3d-print-and-cut-magnets-and-tons-more.html

I used the Silhouette adhesive magnet product, along with some white card stock.  I print and cut the design using my printer and Silhouette Cameo.  Since the magnet is the adhesive kind once the designs are cut out all I have to do is line them up. I could leave it just like this but, instead I brushed on this Mod Podge dimensional magic which makes the magnets 3D plus, I think it makes it bond together more along with looking shiny.

The first photo shows the magnet on the left and the print and cut on the right.

Second photo shows what they look like after the Mod Podge was applied.

Third photo shows the colors after the print and cut is done before the magnets were applied.

Fourth photo shows the Silhouette Cameo cutting out the numbers.
I found at Target some cute little bags for a $1.00 they were perfect to put all the magnets in.  They are for the granddaughters Easter baskets.  I am looking to get a metal box of some type and then decorating it. This would be great for the girls to  each have their own containers to play with the magnets without having them on  the fridge. It would be away to not have the girls in the kitchen.

Laundry Room Decorations

Our laundry room needs some sprucing up.  I decided to start with adding some vinyl to both the washer and dryer.   It took a bit to come up with the design. Was not sure hubby would be okay with this.  He recently made a comment that soon there will be vinyl everywhere.  Either way I went ahead with the project.

The first was for the washer, I always liked the saying laundry today or naked tomorrow. So using my Silhouette Cameo I designed the saying and then I cut it out in white vinyl. White was a good choice since the washer has a dark window on it.  So pleased with how this came out, now on to the dryer.

For the dryer I had decided to do a sock monster. I had a couple designs in my Silhouette library. I liked a combination of two of the monsters. So I combined them taking off the parts I did not like or that would not work well.   Then I decided to use green vinyl instead of the white.  Hubby really liked the one on the dryer. He has no problem with them being on the washer and dryer.

Here is what they look like side by side.

St. Patrick's Day decorations

I used some printable reusable vinyl for my St. Patrick's day decorations.  I really like how the colors look and there is no  layering needed.  This is perfect for decorating, it is reusable so I can take it down and reuse every year.

Here is the mirror in our living room all decorated for St. Patrick's day.

Then for our dining room table I put vinyl shamrocks on the LED candles. I also have little St. Patrick's day baskets that I put Rollo's in so it looks like gold.

Candles for Yoga Instructor

I have put vinyl on LED candles at my home for different holidays. So when I seen my yoga instructor use a set of LED candles during the restorative practice; I thought it would be a nice idea to cut out some vinyl yoga symbols for her candles.

She is such a wonderful person and she loved this idea. This was so easy to do and they look very calming and beautiful in the studio.  Below are photos of the candles with the LED on and off.

Valentine's Sloth Card

I am not a card maker but, I do like them and try to make them.  So when I seen this cute little sloth Valentine's day card I thought it would be a cute one to try and make for my hubby.  He really liked it and it was not too hard or confusing for me to do.

Sublimation shirts for our grandgirls.

We have a newer heat press so we wanted to try and use the Revel S paper that allows you to sublimate on to cotton. With the Revel S paper your heat press must be at the right temp or it will not work.  This is why we purchased a new heat press.

Most of the time I do the creations and my husband is the  one that deals with the sublimation printer and heat press.  All the shirts except for one is either 100% cotton or a cotton blend.  The one with the monkeys on them is 100% polyester and was done using regular sublimation paper.

Since I had the extra shirts and I was making them Valentine's day shirts I decided to go ahead and make some other cool shirts for them.

Here is what we made for the grandgirls the ones on the left are for our older granddaughter and the ones on the right are for the younger one.

Adding to Valentine's day decoration.

I have had this heart shaped door hanger for a long time. But, this year I decided to add to it. So I took some of my craft paper and using my Silhouette Cameo I cut out my husband's and my initials then I  just tied them to the hearts.  As simple as it is I am really happy how it turned out.

Shower melts.

Here is what I did to make the shower melts for my daughter's  Valentine's day gift.
I used a heart shaped mold with lavender essential oils, then I used an ice cube tray for lemon and peppermint.   One was for relaxing and the other to energize, here is the  link for the recipe.

https://www.edensgarden.com/blogs/news/116089476-diy-recipe-essential-oil-shower-melts

The one thing I have learned is be patient and mix very slowly first dry then wet and do a little of the wet then stir.  Here are some photos of the process.  I forgot to get picks of the yellow ones done in the ice cube tray. I did the heart shaped ones over because they did not have enough color in them for my taste.  Even through the molds are silicone and most of the time the melts come out with no problem. I still coat the molds with fractionated coconut oil.

Valentine's Day Gift

My son in law asked me to make a coffee cup for my daughter, for Valentine's day.  Since it was for Valentine's day I decided to not only make the cup but, to make some shower melts. So here is the cup that we sublimated for Valentine's day.  This is perfect for her since she is always at Target.

I  had a box that had hearts on it so I used it to packaged the shower melts. I also had some nice little bags to put the melts in.  Then  I made some labels for the melts. Here is her gift completed.
